ArtTok Privacy Policy

ArtTok is an iOS app for viewing public-domain artworks and generated art commentary.

Data stored on your device: ArtTok stores liked artworks, collected artworks, onboarding state, recent search terms, recently seen artwork IDs, on-device recommendation signals, and generated discovery tags keyed by artwork ID locally on your device using iOS storage. This data restores your app experience, makes generated tags searchable, and personalizes the feed. Anonymous aggregate like deltas are sent to ArtTok to show shared popularity counts; no account is created.

Data sent to services: ArtTok loads artwork metadata and images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art public API and image servers. When commentary is generated, ArtTok sends artwork title, artist, date, medium, museum, location, locale, and verified artwork facts to the ArtTok Cloudflare Worker. The Worker forwards that artwork information to Google Gemini to generate commentary. Cloudflare, Google, Apple, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art may process technical information such as IP address, request metadata, and device/network information under their own policies.

Tracking and advertising: ArtTok may display ads using Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google and its partners may process technical information such as IP address, device identifiers, ad impressions, ad interactions, crash logs, performance data, and related request metadata to provide, measure, and improve ads.

ArtTok does not create user accounts and does not send your collection or on-device recommendation profile to an account. Advertising data processing by Google is governed by Google's policies and user consent choices where applicable.

Comments: ArtTok creates a random identifier stored in the iOS Keychain. Comments, comment likes, reports, timestamps, artwork IDs, and that identifier are stored to provide public comments, deletion, safety, and abuse prevention. Other users do not see the identifier. Before publication, comment text is checked by automated rules and may be sent to Google Gemini solely for safety classification. Moderation categories and reasons may be retained. Delete your own comments in the app or contact support. Deleting the app does not delete comments already posted.

Accounts and payments: ArtTok does not currently provide user accounts, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

Children: ArtTok is a general-audience art viewing app. It is not directed to children under 13.

Data deletion: You can delete locally stored likes, collections, recent searches, seen-state, recommendation signals, and discovery tags by deleting the app from your device. Because ArtTok does not currently provide accounts, there is no account record to delete.
